Committee Selection

Dear members,

With the start of Trinity term the time has come again for the selection of a new OUEngSoc committee. If you are enthusiastic, able, and committed and believe that you could contribute positively towards the running of the society (such as finding sponsorship, keeping members informed, handling the website, marketing the society, managing the finances, and organising a wide range of events, socials, trips and talks) then please do apply!

The selection process...
The committee selection process shall be a first round of applications followed by a second round of interviews for selected applicants. If you're a member then you may apply to any of the committee positions with the exception of President and Vice-President (all positions open are detailed below).

To apply, please email to
ouengsoc@gmail.com your CV and no more than 300 words describing: why you wish to be on the committee, why you would wish to hold the particular position for which you are applying (stating any relevant experience), what visions and ideas you might have for new events or the development of the society, and any major commitments next year which might affect the amount of time you have available for the society. Please make the subject of your email "OUEngSoc Application".

Applications must be received by MIDDAY SUNDAY 3rd Week (9th May)! (EXTENDED)

Positions open:

Secretary
The Secretary registers the society each term, takes minutes at the committee meetings, sends the weekly society emails, maintains the membership list and promotes the society to other departments and societies within the university. A full description of the Secretary's official duties can be found in the Constitution.

Treasurer
The treasurer is responsible for keeping the accounts up to date and handling all dealings with the bank. A full description of the Treasurer's official duties can be found in the Constitution.

Marketing Officer
The Marketing Officer is responsible for the marketing of events and the society, maintaining the Facebook group (including creating Facebook events), and maintaining a good relationship with other societies, parties, institutes and departments.

Sponsorship Officer
The Sponsorship Officer is responsible for renewing current sponsorship agreements and finding new sponsors for the society.

IT Officer
The IT Officer maintains the website such that it contains up to date information on all talks, event, trips, socials and opportunities and is responsible for the upkeep of the mailing list.

Events Officer (x5)
The Events Officers are the main contacts for the assigned sponsor(s) and are the leaders and organisers of any events associated with those sponsors. Responsibilities include booking of venues, liaising with the speakers/guests, ordering food if required, setting and packing up,  and organising trips, lectures, speaker events and socials. Usually an Events Officer will be in charge of one or two events a year and will help out with other events.

The committee selection process is detailed in the new OUEngSoc Constitution. If anyone has any particular questions regarding this document then, until it is on the website, please contact the Secretary who will be more than happy to provide you with a copy.
